The site http://www.fishnet.ru/ was established by an independent fishery publisher Alexander Makarov in 2000 based on Russia's first and only English-language monthly news bulletin Russian Fish Report covering all aspect's of the nation's fishery industry and seafood sector.

Mr. Makarov founded RFR in 1996 after a career in Murmansk as sales manager of MORETRON Marine Electronics Sales and Service ltd (agents for SIMRAD, Racal-Decca, etc) and many years of contributing to Fishing News International, Seafood International, etc.

In 2005 , as partner of Eurofish, Mr. Makarov has taken part in the study of the Russian Fishery Industry for the World Bank (IFC) as ordered by Iceland.

From the very beginning RFR has always been edited in Russia but since 1998 the publication has got a further boost from partnership with Copenhagen-based FAO EASTFISH (now EUROFISH).

With the launch of FISHNET website in May 2000, the Russian Fish Report has become available ONLINE as an archive of monthly issues.

At the close of 2005 we have launched the much needed Online Russian Seafood Directory available to paid subscribers to Russian Fish Report Profi Pack. Each entry is checked by telephone and should any be found obsolete we shall immediately check the correct contacts on subscriber request.

As of 2006 we can also do indepth detailed research into Russian import statistics by species, product forms, supplier countries and regions, shipments, etc to customer's order in format suitable for the client and at a price to be agreed.

Fish Courier PROFI

Since 2001 FISHNET.RU has also been publishing the Russian-language information bulletin Fish Courier in electronic form which was later upgraded to Fish Courier PROFI which is circulated among the Russian subscribers every week.
